is there somewhere the official current actual most recent source code available (SVN or GIT) ???
every thing i can find is many weeks or years old...

i am interested in to see and follow the development and changes in the code.

Are you sure to change the code. If you are than "Jer" is a great reference for building new manager. Because It has Link crawler/link parser and single UI for everything i like it but it is so resource hungry and not good for slow connection. If you develop a link analyser for FDM i am very much oblique to you.

The stuck on 2 sections problem has shown up again. I found restarting FDM is a workaround. Don't know how to reproduce the problem.

Hey guys, that's funny! When I told the team of developers of this bug (nearly 1 year ago), everyone refused to realize this. I only read 'I can't reproduce it' - that was it. Of course I was sure not to be the only with this problem.

I tested this FDM... I unistalled the old one, removed FDM from the Registry as well as I removed it from Application Data's folder. I removed all data of FDM I could find - and started a few s with 3.92. And you know what? 2 chunks per file and a poor speed - that's the result of 3.92... BTW, I use Win7 64bit on an i5 with 6GB RAM.
And I didn't use the FF-FDM-AddOn, to avoid a (perhaps) buggy AddOn.

But I don't ask any longer for bug correction. I use another solution, at least as long there seems to be no need of finding and correcting this faulty behavior of FDM.

I let FDM update 3.9.1 1249 Lite to 3.9.2 and was updated to the full featured one not the Lite I was using. I removed it, DLed and installed the Lite installer and it seems to run fine in very minimal testing. I had no trouble getting 20 connections (using Tview to see the ports). Enjoy, J.

I've met 2 sections only "bug",then deleted 3.9.2 1281 then ed 3.8 1173.Then deleted 3.8 1173 and reinstalled a green copy of 3.9.2 1281 and find it OK.Maybe a green copy is need by 3.9.2.Anyway,thanks for your help

1: I've made screenshots of 'all and every' settings in FDM - tell me which you need, where and whether I can give you *.png pictures.
2: Heavy mode. 'Light' settings don't create more parts (I've tested this several times)
3: The maximum of active DL's was 2
4: For nearly every I also created screenshots, which even show the exactly URL. This includes of course the protocol. But there are 4 URL I know to be ftp. Four of them are ftp://wiki.freepascal.org/pub/lazarus/snapshots/Lazarus-1.1-39800-fpc-2.6.XXX. I did never using another protocol as http, ftp, (perhaps https) when this 'bug' occured.
5: If there is a log generated I'll send it to you (like before - where?)
6: Not really stable because of my WLAN connection which permanently is influenced by radio interferences (by other radio devices in this house, I assume). I'll try to use a power line device and hope to get a stable connection. Using DownThemAll (Firefox) I usually reach an average speed of 600-800 KByte/sec (but with heavy fluctuations).

To visualize traffic on my network card I use NetWorx. Perhaps it could help you also to see a usual by e.g. DownThemAll, simply because it doesn't suffer too heavy from this everything-but-good WLAN.
Nonetheless, yesterday I started a comparably small list of s of 7 or 8 files with altogether less than 5 MB. While DTA needed less than 1 and a half minute, FDM was busy more than 30 minutes (!!!) - and didn't stop. FDM stuck ing 2 files, which sometimes came in portions of several hundrets of Bytes interrupted by 'lazy' phases without ... In the end I had to stop all DL's, because I was fed up with this sickness. One of the 'slow' files was http://jeskola.net/buzz/beta/files/setup_x64/BuzzSetup_x64_1480.exe.

I didn't see this 2 sections 'limit' now - thanks.
But... let me ask, how these 'community options' are able so slow down FDM in such a horrible way and if under such circumstances these options make any sense (at least during the process).
Then let me ask, if you see a possibility to make FDM avoid two delay times. These both delays hit nearly every single file (at least for me). They occur at the beginning of a DL (from initialisation until start of data flow) and at the end when in usually one sections there are only a few Kilobytes left. These times are (in my situation) around 10 seconds and between around 15 seconds until nearly a minute.

And let me also ask, if an internet connection, which bandwidth changes very quickly and random in a range of ... let's assume 400 ... 900 kB/s, interfere with FDM's automatic network/ management and how?

I'm not sure but you may check it by yourself. Just specify your values instead of automatic. E.g. 10 sections per one server, 30 total sections and max 3 s running. Please let me know about the result.

I'm not sure but you may check it by yourself. Just specify your values instead of automatic. E.g. 10 sections per one server, 30 total sections and max 3 s running. Please let me know about the result.

here the results of your ideas (of course without community features):
One of the two delays (the beginning delay) is gone as soon as I deactivate FDM's automatic management. But the 'end delay' ist somewhat strange, that I want to tell you how it looks to me. I felt, that FDM seems to use a priority, which triggers a restart of a 'sleeping' section or the creation of a new section... and I found, it looks like this priority depends nearly directly on the percentage of the rest of the ed file. That means: As soon as one of the last sections begins to slow down - even if it stops - it sometimes last several minutes until FDM triggers a restart of this what results in many 'sleeping' small rests of data (in contrast: As long as only a small part of a file is ed, new sections are created with an extremely short delay). This effect I saw clearly during a longer list of files (including LibreOffice, which showed this effect even a bit more than the rest of files - it was the largest file in my list).

Any idea?
