Suggestions 5l1l2n

Postby Nevarine » Wed Aug 20, 2008 5:49 am

Hey!

Three things that would personally really help me:

- Rapidshare .
- When I from Firefox links, they don't work for some reason, even though the files do exist.
- The ability to a list of links that aren't hyperlinks (Only text links).

Thanks!

Is possible to a big file both from mirror and torrent? This definitely could turn this into the ultimate manager:

Pros:
Less server saturation
Really high speed
The officially recommended method in X, Y and Z page = Much, much, publicity.

Cons:
May be difficult to implement but not impossible (I've already read somewhere about http seeds)

Hi!

A feature request from a GetRight up until now:

When using the Site Explorer to multiple files, I direly miss an option to consecutively rename all files.

GetRight has the option to use the original files' names, or to use custom names and append a continuous number starting wherever I want. If I wanted to use e.g. "MyPicture101.jpg", starting at 101, I'd use "MyPicture###" as mask (### being 3 digits), set 101 as the starting number, and the extension is used from the original name. As far as I know when using that option GetRight uses the same scheme for each filetype, meaning that if I select 3 html files and 10 jpg images, the html files would be named MyPicture101.html, MyPicture102.html, MyPicture103.html, and the jpgs would be named MyPicture101.jpg, MyPicture102.jpg, ..., MyPicture110.jpg.

Remote by e-mail 6e6nu

Plato » Tue Aug 26, 2008 6:33 am

I don't know if this is suggested, but sometimes remote connections is not possible through firewalls. But there is an older method:

It is possible to check a POP3 server for new e-mails with subject lines containing [FDM] and then get its content which must be link to the file.

Of course FDM must use default settings for saving file on the disk. And also must delete this e-mail from POP3 server.

I don't know if I want too much but I think this is pretty simple thing to do. What do you think?

RSS 1f1e72

Plato » Tue Aug 26, 2008 6:38 am

Also I need RSS like in Getright to blogs (for example http://feeds.penny-arcade.com/padlc ) or other type of files (for example http://www.animeground.com/cache/anime_newreleases.rss )..

Hope, you'll make this possible.

Settings file in program folder 4c714j

Postby » Fri Aug 29, 2008 2:46 am

1) The settings are now stored in the registry and the option to export the settings results in a .reg file.

It would be nice to have the option for the settings to be in an .ini file in the program folder; that would make FDM more portable than the current status.

2) Exporting the list does not export the comments or the site info (currently stored in sites.sav). The export option will be more useful by including the comments and the info ( name and ) or a copy of the sites.sav file (it is not easy to copy the file to the App-Data folder). Having an option for the .sav files to be stored in a subfolder in the program directory would also be better.

3) Ability to get the file date along with the size. Not infrequently, the updated files retain the same name as in the case of FDM, Systernals utilities, Nirsoft utilities, etc...

Thanks

Global hotkeys 1d2z6u

k_kolev1985 » Fri Aug 29, 2008 9:49 am

Hi,

Can you add the possibility to command some functions of FDM via global hotkeys? The most useful for me will be a global hotkey to focus (bring to front from system tray)/Hide (hide to system tray) FDM. That will improve accessibility too, because now my screen reader (JAWS for Windows) doesn't detect FDM's icon, because FDM doesn't have a "Title" (standard rectangular tooltip) on its tray icon. Hope that you understand me correctly.

Best wishes!

Some protocols and features are not ed by FDM. I searched "Comparison of managers" in Wikipedia and now thinking that some things will be very useful such as MMS, Cookies import and RTSP. This features (maybe and others  ) will make FDM most universal and convenient manager.

I'd like this feature to be implemented too... actually I can my podcasts using Miro, that does his work excellently, but it is quite a bulky program and having just another er in the background isn't my ideal.

Since I have already FDM running for most of the time as my preferred manager, it'd be nice if it could parse RSS's and podcasts/videocasts automatically....

It shouldn't be something too hard to implement and it'd integrate well with the pourpose of the program (more than the video converter, for sure), so I really hope to see this feature in the future.

Ciao :)

scheduling 2lr2b

Postby Stu » Thu Sep 04, 2008 2:47 am

Hi It would be nice to have the scheduler to also stop at a certian time to.

EG.

Start time = 3am

Stop time = 9am.

These setting will be usefully for people who have peak and off peak quoters.

thanks

There is good feature in FlashGet that lacks in FDM. This is function of Web page file processing (File -> Import -> Process Web Page File) that allows to extract links from saved HTML file on your harddisk. It is quite usefull and I think it is not very hard to implement something like this...

Thanks.
