Multiple gateway please 37d31
Here at home I have two broadband connections; 20 mbps cable modem and 16 mpbs ADSL thanks to my employer insisting on a redundant backup and luckily agreeing to pay for both connections
It would be nice if FDM could route alternate segments of an entity via alternate gateways, thus increasing my effective rate to 36 mbps...
Many small companies will have similar configurations if reliable internet access is important to them, and most of the time the backup connection is just sitting idle! All it needs is a smart manager to detect that there are multiple active gateway addresses configured in the T/IP protocol stack, and then use them all (or try to use them all).

AFAIK only s can choose wich is the default gateway and routing is done accordingly by the T stack. This lets FDM and every other applications using high level protocols such as HTTP far out of the point on which they can choose other than the content of the packages to be sent.
There is something called "Multilink Framing" at T level which allows what you want but I've never seen it outside of dialup conections and I don't even know if it can be used to bridge to different kinds of connections like the ones you have.
My advice: posting the question in a network related forum is your best shot.

Any application creating a socket can bind it to a specific local address instead of the default 0.0.0.0 By choosing a local address you can influence which NIC is used and therefore which gateway is used. these broadband connections operate on DH and therefore the PC will have two NICs; one for each broadband connection, and each on a very different IP range...
multiple gateways and multiple proxies 2i57r
i would second ftruter on this feature...
I think that it would be possible to make FDM use multiple gateways with a builtin PAT table.. same as we do for ADSL modems
think something like
section 1, -sport 1854 -dport 80 -s localhost -d httpserver -> gateway 1
section 2, -sport 1855 -dport 80 -s localhost -d httpserver -> gateway 2
etc..
as for multiple proxies
section 1, proxy 1
section 2, proxy 2
I have two conenctions, 1 mainly for s (ADSL) and another one for my mail/web servers.
It would be great to use both connections when possible.
Also, having a bandwidth allocation to each gateway/proxy would be helpful. Say gateway/proxy 1 can go up to 756Kb and gateway/proxy 2 can go up to 512Kb and of course not to forget that there should be a scheduler associated to each gateway/proxy

Then what you need is a PROXY with rules to allocate bandwith and numbers of T connections to different network interfaces. That way you can also use it enhance your browsing experience and even have a little chance of fooling some restrictions on servers like the "1 only " of non-paid RapidShare.
