Better browser integration via Proxy mode? 526lb
As a Windows Vista , I realise that Microsoft has again broken
your product. You can't integrate closely with Internet Explorer 7 under Vista
.
However, I suggest you take a step back and consider a much better approach. Why not turn your program into a mini proxy server? It can then accellerate ALL traffic (provided the entity is larger than a certain minimum size, eg. 100KB). It can then stuff that is protected with Session keys/cookies, POST data, etc. etc. with no problems
.
It can also then act as a single proxy server for a small network of PCs thus eliminating the need to install it on every PC...
All you will need to do to integrate with a browser is to set it's proxy server address to localhost port 8080 or 3128 and away you go!

You can use a third party proxy. I use Croxy but if you want take a look at FreeProxy at HandCraftedSoftware
Both are lightweight and very reliable. However, I haven't tryed them on Vista so its up tu you.

The point was that none of the proxy servers (if you can get them to work on Vista in the first place) do as good a job as FDM when it comes to ing multiple segments at the same time. FDM is brilliant in that respect. All I am suggesting is that this brilliant bit be encapsulated at a lower level so that broader browser can be achieved more easily. Combine this with my other suggestion to use multiple gateways and then FDM will be a really useful tool for advanced home s and small businesses alike.
