why is DAP MUCH faster than FDM with RS? m261g
Hi,
I switched over to FDM because I don't like the fact that you can't chose whether you want shredder to be intalled with accelerator pus or not. I have noticed, however, that DAP s at peeks of 15 Mbs/s on my connection while FDM rarely es 3 Mbs/s. Any reason why that is? Give me your suggestions. One of the reasosn why I think the D/L speed is so different is in the way the temporary files are managed. I think that DAP keeps the info in ram while FDM writes it to disk immediately.
Cheers,
wambooman

I don't believe you. May be the average time for DAP and FDM to a file is the same, only the peak speed is diff. If that is the case there is no reason to worry. If not there is some serious problem. Its got nothing to do with temp file management.
If you have a really fast connection you can tweak the the no of sections to 8 and see whether any increase in speed.

Keeping all the info in ram would be too much to handle when trying to large files. There is a cache system where it writes part of the files when they are ed. This option can be specified in
options-> options->All s-> cache the operations of writing the date to disk . you can set the size in MB, mine is default I guess and it is 3 MB.
I don't think any manager would try to write directly to harddisk as it is inefficient and would cause hd to fail a lot.
Your problem might be related to your settings.
