FDM 2.1 bld 494 and FlashGot 304je

Does this latest version of FDM no longer need FlashGot to integrate into the Firefox 2 shell (and indeed, won't work properly w/ FlashGot)?

I installed FlashGot 0.5.97.03 several days ago and used it w/ wx Fast in Firefox 2. They worked together, but I UNinstalled DLF because it used 100% of the U constantly, no matter what.

I just installed Free Mgr 2.1 bld 494, but FlashGot wont' detect it. In FlashGot under Options>Advanced, I checked "Automatic manager detection", then "Detect Now", but still doesn't.

The message I get when trying to a file using the FG selection in the FFx drop down menu is:

manager not properly installed.
Can't find wx Fast executable.

As far as I can tell, wxDF is completely uninstalled. I see no way to remove it from FlashGot's detected d/l mgr list, nor can I add FDM.

FDM has an option to Monitor Firefox, but when I try to set it, FDM says "Can't enable monitoring of Firefox because FlashGot is installed. Uninstall FlashGot first."

* There was no option when installing FDM to enable "IE integration", as the FlashGot FAQ mentioned:
> If there's an option to install something like "IE integration", answer Yes.

* There was also no option for Mozilla / Firefox plugin when installing FDM.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

If you installed FDM with Firefox running, FlashGot wont detect it. Just restart Firefox and check FashGot options again, FDM should be available.

Edit to post below this: I figured out how to [correctly] enter the wildcard info. [Help File could use some more work on this topic]

BUT... when a site has filenames listed like this:
//sitename.com/group1/file001.txt thru file050.txt, and

THEN the next group right below it on same page is:
//sitename.com/group2/file051.txt thru file100.txt, etc.,

then I have to create a batch d/l for each of the 'groups' (logically).
The problem is, when I select EITHER " All" or " Selected w/ FDM" after R-clicking on page, ** NO ** screen or box pops up from FDM to either edit the files or start d/l'g.

1) Why do you think FDM will no longer work when I select a group of files & then R-click & select " selected w/ FDM" ? I also tried copy & paste - no go.

I did get FlashGot to recognize & use FDM, but there is still the issue (guess it may be an issue) of the message that FDM gives : "Can't enable monitoring of Firefox because FlashGot is installed. Uninstall FlashGot first."

Also, when still had FG installed and using it to initiate d/l's in FDM, then FDM behaved very strangly in several ways. The interface (GUI) in FDM was VERY erratic.

I then uninstalled FlashGot (not just disabled), and FDM seemed more stable, at first. I used it a couple of times, and even used FDM's option " Selected w/ FDM" by selecting filenames on a web page, then R-clicking, then selecting the option mentioned. All worked well, but when try to D/L w/FDM a couple days later from same web site, it won't work.

Just to the files were still available, I tried d/l'g just ONE of the files off that web page, and it worked fine - even in FDM.

I can't get the "Create Batch " in FDM to work (haven't tried it at dozens of sites) it seems because the files have names like \...\file001.rar; or file013.rar, etc. When I <try> to use the wildcards, FDM creates the filenames as \...\filename1.rar; filename13.rar, etc, instead of "Filename001.rar.

2) Other than the Help File in FDM (which are actually pretty good), are there any tutorials, etc., available?

FlashGot and FDM don't understand each other from time to time. Just start FDM before using FlashGot, works for me.

About the batch you didn't specify the wildcard (number of) bytes. Take a look: http://file(*).rar with
1-100: generates file1.rar,.., file10.rar,..,file100.rar
when you specify how many wildcard bytes you want (it looks like this):
1-100w3: generates file001.rar,.., file010.rar,..,file100.rar
where wN means fill with zeroes until wildcard has N digits.

Gotcha. The help file doesn't really have an example typed out in one string just as you'd have to enter it. The Help wording could be improved some.

Also, for others reading, you can use the menu to input this data under s>Create Batch >Assign.

Palmiche, since I already uninstalled FlashGot, do you think it matters whether FDM or FG is INSTALLED first, if I reinstall FG?

Just start FDM before using FlashGot, works for me.

Isn't that kind of hard to do, unless you launch FMD before even launching FFx? Because FG starts when FFx starts, AFAIK (assuming it's installed).

Also, I don't seem to get automatic email notifications when someone replies to a thread I've participated in, even though I have "Notify me when a reply is posted" checked. Don't have a problem w/ this on other forums.
