Firefox addon disabled, FDM is NOT working with FF 29 p6q6e
I have just installed the latest version of Firefox (29) and the latest version of FDM (3.9.4). This says it works with Firefox 29. However Firefox Add-Ons Manager has disabled the FDM plug-in (16.0.1) as it is incompatible with Firefox, and a search for updates does not reveal any.
What is going wrong? Any suggestions as to what I should do to get it working again?

FDM Firefox add-on diabled, so FDM NOT working with FF 29 4j5x62

I have checked in FDM - Firefox is not checked as being monitored, and when I try to check it I am told to enable the add-on. But when the FF add-on page opens there is no way you can do this - the only option is to remove the add-on. Bit of a Catch 22 here folks.
I am running the latest version of Windows 7

You should really read FDM FAQ and existing topics before posting, please.
Your problems are already solved, see viewtopic.php?f=1&t=16800&start=15#p38396

I did - at least I read what appeared to be the FDM FAQ's. Couldn't find a reference to my problem, which surprised me. Maybe there is an issue with ease of finding the recent problems?
Oh. and although I have followed the suggested (not always totally clear) instructions to the letter, my problems are not solved either.
I can now turn on Firefox Monitoring in FDM, so that is progress. But the FDM plugin has now vanished, and a search in Firefox add-ons doesn't produce a replacement. Unless you have a better suggestion, I will try completely uninstalling FDM, and then re-installing it.
And I do wonder why this happened in the first place in an upgrade specifically billed as being compatible with FireFox 29.
Re: FDM Firefox addon diabled, so FDM NOT working with FF 29 3k2b3k
FDM FAQ is in the sticky topic called "FDM FAQ", but some postings in that topic have subject changed - look for "Firefox troubleshooting".
There are many ways to break Firefox and FDM cooperation, so you cannot expect all of them will be described in FAQ. Instead you can find a universal instruction "How to fix broken FDM plugin for Firefox installation?". Just follow it and report what is missing or unclear there. English isn't my native language, maybe some wordings could be improved.
The instruction contains some explanations what is going on and why, because it's not the first time FDM installer is incomplete or broken. Some more details about problems with FDM plugin you can find also in "Free Manager FireFox plugin" topic.

Re: FDM Firefox addon diabled, so FDM NOT working with FF 29 3k2b3k
In the end I didn't have to do anything, as this morning when I turned on my PC I got a message from Firefox asking to install an updated version of the FDM plug-in, and once that was in place it all worked perfectly.
So thank you for your efforts, which proved unnecessary, I guess.
Incidentally, your English is excellent, so no worries there. Where I found the instructions tricky was when they didn't, for example, tell me where a folder I needed to look in could be found.
Anyway, FDM is working with Firefox once again, so all is well.

In most cases s really need to execute only 3-4 points from the instruction, but their reports are not clear and detailed enough to tell them which points are necessary.Clearcomms wrote:So thank you for your efforts, which proved unnecessary, I guess.
It is Windows that hides many folders by default. To find them you should change folder options and Windows search options or use a real file manager instead of Windows Explorer.Clearcomms wrote:tell me where a folder I needed to look in could be found.
Expressions in %% are Windows environment variables, you can use them from the command line. For example press Winkey+R, run cmd.exe to open console window with its command line, look what folder you are in, type command
cd %ProgramFiles%
press Enter and see what folder you are in now.
You can run SET command from the command line to see all currently existing environment variables and their values. Run EXIT command to close console window.

Dear all,
In case our Firefox plugin can not be enabled in your browser, please try the following steps:
- Relaunch FDM client (to close FDM press Alt+X or Exit in the File menu or in the system tray) relaunch Firefox to check whether something has been changed;
- You should describe as detailed as possible all the actions you had done before to face this problem;
What FDM version did you use earlier? How did you update FDM and Firefox? Have you also done any other actions besides the simple program installation/uninstallation?
Based on the information related to the plugin compatibility with Firefox 29 provided on this forum by our s, we are not able to reproduce the problem on our side. Many thanks for the interest to Free Manager.

If you install Firefox 29.0.1,with Firefox extensions 1.6.0.6.
The right-click menu of Free Manager will become as the pic that I've ed.None of them is functional.I'd wonder if you're a FDM or you can just look at this then found the menu option is incorrect in my pic.

When it's Firefox 29.0, the FDM extension works fine.I've looked into the install.rdf file and found it s up to 32.0.

If you haven't tried Firefox 29.0.1 to reproduce the problem,then just out of the thread.It's waste of time and energy to repeat the issue again and again,which you could find it immediately just look at the picture

What issue? Could you describe your actions step by step? The picture doesn't show what have you done before making screenshot.Guest wrote:It's waste of time and energy to repeat the issue again and again,which you could find it immediately just look at the picture
