Pale Moon 9 ? 5j3e5

Postby Guest » Thu Jan 12, 2012 4:15 pm

Since upgrading to Pale Moon 9 I am unable to use FDM.
FDM did not work in version 8 either.

I have latest FDM 3.8 build 1173.

Locate 'C:\s\ name\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\z2n23x09.default\extensions'
(its default for firefox) & copy '[email protected]' file. Now paste it in extentions folder of moonchild folder of pale moon, located in roaming.

If u hav no firefox installed so first install it to get the extention of fdm. ... Thanks!!!

I can confirm that this works with the latest Pale Moon 12.1

But after I uninstalled my firefox and also selected to remove my profile, it stopped working on pale moon even though I had the add-on placed in the palemoon's profile. I checked the FDM browser monitoring options and Firefox was unchecked. I tried to re-check it but it complained that "can't install".

The solution for this is to install firefox again and launch it so it will create a new profile OR create a fake profile folder. You can do it by these steps:

Create a empty folder path: C:\s\\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox
Create a new text file and rename it to profiles.ini
Open it up with text editor and paste content below to it and save the file.

Code: Select all

[Profile0]
Path=Profiles/temporary

After creating it FDM let me to check the firefox monitoring and then installed the addon to the temporary firefox profile, and thus started to monitor my palemoon s also. If you prefer a single click file to do the above, here is a batch file for it: http://www.mediafire.com/.php?crrvtl9ctr9gbwp

I've been trying to make this method work with palemoon x64 portable version with the free manager portable but to no avail. The free manager addons can be easily installed inside palemoon by copying [email protected] with the correct path of free manager \extension folder in it but still the monitoring is not functioning. I don't know is I'm the only one experiencing this or I may be missing some steps to make it work. Can anyone confirm this?

Hope a dedicated addons for palemoon will be available soon.

Thanks very much :D

FDM and its plugins are 32-bit apps and they cannot directly work with 64-bit browsers. You can run only pure javascript code, java applet (in 64-bit Java Virtual Machine) or 64-bit add-on in any 64-bit browser.

It's not about Palemoon, its about 64-bit apps. You can use FDM or Flashgot for Firefox with 32-bit Mozilla-based browsers, but Flashgot for Firefox is also 32-bit only.

Also, begs the question, should s be so reliant on third party helper add-ons for FDM to function properly?

Using "Clipboard" monitoring is a good alternative for it to work with Palemoon x64.

It's some kind of workaround and it works for sure with direct links only, you can't use it with most of file hosting or video streaming services.
