Thanks for your great work.
FDM 6.24.2.5857 was removed from my PC by Microsoft Defender. It accuses Trojan:Script/Wacatac.B!ml. Windows 10 Pro fully updated here.
I needed to rollback to version 6.22.0.5714.

Hello,
I can't reproduce this. I think it could be a bug of Microsoft Defender which is fixed by the moment. Try to update your antivirus databases.

Re: FDM 6 s2g2w
FDM 6.24.2.5857 and FDM 6.24.2.5847 started crashing on exit this afternoon. It was fine a few hours before. I reverted to fdm6.24.0.5818 and the problem went away. I'm using Windows 10. Defender hasn't reported any thing.
Also Check for updates hasn't worked for me for some time now. Says I'm up to date even when there is a new version. Thanks.....

Hello,
OK, we've reverted FDM back to use Qt 6.6.3 instead of Qt 6.7.2.
Please re- FDM from our site and install.
FDM version is the same.
Please tell me if it's working fine for you again.

After the each release, we're always waiting a bit before letting FDM know about the new version. For now, it should work fine.
If it's still not working for you, please let me know, including information about your OS and its version and FDM version.

Sure.
But I had to get a previous version from filehorse.com when I needed to roll back. This previous version was considered clean by Windows antivirus.

Check for updates does not work. It always says "up to date"

Hello,
It works fine. If it's "not working" for you, please provide details: your OS and its version, your FDM's version.

Re: FDM 6 s2g2w
Microsoft Windows 10 Professional (x64) Build 19045.5011 (22H2)
Free Manager 6.24.2.5857 [Sep 16, 2024] STABLE
When I checked for updates using the previous version, it said it was up to date. I've never seen a different response. But afterwards, in the years I've used FDM, my routine has always been to check the website anyway. I just updated to 6.24.2.5857, by coming here and ing it.
I've also have this selected, but never been notified of an update, I do get notifications when a has completed, so no trouble with notifications in general.

Re: FDM 6 s2g2w
So, am I right that you was expecting for FDM to notify you on its own? You did not trigger the check manually using it main menu ("Check for updates")? If so, it's an expected behavior. Maybe we should to rethink it though...

Re: FDM 6 s2g2w
Both.
All I can say is when I see a setting to "Check for updates", I assume the purpose is to notify the when an update is available.Alex wrote:So, am I right that you was expecting for FDM to notify you on its own?

That setting does indicate that the program will check, on its own, for updates.
The second setting indicates that updates will not be installed automatically (when disabled as the has done).
It sounds kinda pointless to check for updates and not install and not do anything else. I use the same settings - I want to be notified that an update is available and choose how and when to install it myself. As it is, I also rarely see updates through the interface when checking manually, and only my semi-regular appearances here keep me on top of updates.
I do believe that the first setting implies a notification that an update is available in most other software that I use, and believe that it should be the same here as well.
