Hot Tub Man #1 wrote:Is anyone down for the Japanese power name?

I.E.: Hyper Mega Free Manager Super Alpha X

The slogan could be " with vigor!"

How about Joy Luck Super Happy Honerable Freely Supremely Managable Type R or simply JLSHHDFSMTR for those who have to speak in abbrev.

And the slogan would have to be "Make for happy time!"

Im all for the Japanese power names :)

Name 5g5o19

osm666 » Tue Mar 08, 2005 11:13 pm

I think what "storm" it0s a cool name for this great manager, i think what large names no have sense, although long names really call the atencion Like "Mega Free Manager Super R", but a little one it's too cool, "storm" is short and simple and cool(and the logo maybe can be too simple and clean) :!:

Free Manager

Why ?

- Well its sound good and indicates what it is, not often you see a product that describes what it is.
- Free because we all know that it is, and always want it to be

People will hear of or have heard of Free Manager changing its name will do nothing for the software.

People talk sure and thats how i'm here and many of you i'm sure. Because the word is spreading its meant to be a good manager. That has no nasties inside like adware and all, which is a refreshing change.

I'm about to check it out and see if it has good referer abilties, to get round the problem sites.

I would suggest staying away from names that sound similar to Mozilla Firefox or other "brands". Particularly as the software already has a logo that seems to be obviously trying to cash in on the recent popularity of Firefox, despite not being open source and following the same ethics.

This software may be 'freeware', but it's not GPL licenced nor open sourced nor anything to do with the Mozilla project. I get the impression the name change is to try and shake a possible bad public image that could very quickly develop by people feeling deceived for various reasons.

I like Storm, but I would keep FreeManager because that is what the program is and the name tells you right off the bat.

It makes it easy for me to recommend FDM to people because the name is what it is and I can just tell people to type "free manager" as one word in Google (or their search engine of choice) and they should get to it easily, or just type freemanager.telechargerjeux.org (actually at first I did not pay attention and told one person .com but they found it anyway).

I don't need to another name and that is cool, too.

So keep the name, and keep this great program free.

Keep the name 361l12

I agree, the name should be kept as it is. Why change the name for anyway? What's wrong with Free Manager? It's perfect and the name itself tells everybody what the program is and its license.

Zeron wrote:FreeGet is the best of all of them. It emphasises that it is free, and it has a name that will stick with most people as the name of a manager.

Storm/Storm* sounds too much like what the name of a BitTorrent client might be.

you mean Torrent Storm hehe

Storm is not that bad but hey, FDM sound a lot better! Those Commanderand and other options are just types of programs that are made by some ignorant fools (like My Super DVD Ripper Professional  ). Just because of the name i wouldn't use that program. Keep it this way and stay cool as always!
