Maybe you should change Alt using, as there are similar problems in Firefox (f.e. the browser always tries to pdf and zip files) .
I suppose that noone use Alt+click by mistake, so using Alt+click may mean "Force FDM to without waiting for Cancel". With normal click in Chrome you can immediately display dialog "Are you sure? You have only 5 seconds to cancel ".

ALT can't be used with Firefox browser. Just try it without even FDM installed. (at least on Windows platform). On my PC, Firefox just does nothing when I click links with the ALT pressed.

So after seeing Chrome disabling the extension, after allowing the new notifications permission, I went to the Windows program and checked for an update. After it updated, seems the Chrome notification has stopped.

Thank you, finally.

just for the record, I have ALT key set to by FDM, and in Fx, if I click DL with ALT pressed, it does just that - FDM is byed and the is handled by Firefox.

Of course, I'm using Firefox Nightly build, currently 66.0a1 (2019-01-16) (64-bit) with FDM Version 5.1.34.6924 (36b1e76) to test that.

I have a test profile I can test with as well, if need be, to that ALT pressing with FX works fine across versions and with / w/o FDM installed.
