If you mean torrents, it's by design. In *.torrent file there are provided hashes for every torrent piece and you must the whole piece to calculate its hash and make sure it's ed OK.
Some pieces may contain starting or ending parts of files marked as unwanted (to skip/ignore) – but any torrent client must those small parts to get whole pieces. Of course, other torrent clients may hide this action in other way then FDM.

Hello, please specify if the s in question are torrents. If so, then Usher left an explanation above.

Are they separate files in the torrent itself?

Wrong. Right click any of unwanted files and check its size on disk. See the difference?
Then read old explanation here:
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=15590&p=32994&hilit=sparse%2A+%2Atorrent%2A#p32994
and other old topics about sparse files used for (torrent) s:
search.php?keywords=sparse*+*torrent*&=all&sc=1&sf=all&sr=posts&sk=t&sd=d&st=0&ch=-1&t=0&submit=Search

Notes:
1. Bugs reported in old FDM versions/builds are mostly fixed in current FDM 5/6 builds. If your unwanted files are NOT sparse, you should report type - magnet link or direct *.torrent .
2. Some tools for sync/backup ignore files with sparse attribute set, and you cannot remove sparse attribute in older Windows versions. Use other tools or copy files to another place if needed.

Torrent .unwanted 3e2l4u

oslnx » Wed Jun 16, 2021 11:15 am

When we select that we DO NOT want to a file in the torrent file list, it is because we do NOT want to it. ing and putting in another folder called .unwanted is the same shit that this option doesn't exist, it's actually quite STUPID

It would help if you read the posts that Usher linked to and then understand why Torrents work this way. Then you'd (maybe) understand that it's not FDM's fault. It's how the protocol works.

lol, i code in any language and i'm telling you that no matter how the torrent protocol works, you don't need to any files if you don't want to, FDM s the unwanted files to .unwanted folder on purpose. If it were as you imagine there would be no codes for fake ratio like seba14, so if you don't know don't claim, just research and learn first.

If you were that smart, you would have already fixed the problem on your own directly in libtorrent-rasterbar or qbittorrent sources.

Here's how it looks like with torrent pieces in real:
https://super.com/questions/560076/ ... junk-files
Note dates: Asked in 2013, and in 2019 the answer was still the same.

And here's the only workaround I know:
