Firefox 13 vs. FDM Plugin 1.5.7 4p705c

Lost as Usual » Tue Jun 05, 2012 5:28 pm

Firefox will state that the FDM plugin is incompatible with version 13. Perhaps 1.5.7 is incompatible, but as I just ed two files, one a YouTube video, the other a small application, and as both s commenced automatically as soon as I clicked on them from within Firefox 13, I consider the objection from Firefox to be tendentious.

Current FDM plugin is 1.5.7.4, so perhaps you should install newest FDM version before sending your post. Do as follows:
- close Firefox;
- turn off Firefox monitoring in FDM;
- run Firefox, check that FDM plugin is removed from FDM extensions and close Firefox again;
- install the newest FDM version, run FDM and turn on Firefox monitoring again;
- now run Firefox again and check FDM plugin version and compatibility.

Hi,
I've redirected to here regarding broken Firefox integration.

I've done a fresh installation of Firefox 13 and the installed FDM build 1256. The FDM add-on 1.5.7.4 is installed and options do show up in the right click menu. But FDM doesn't launch during s or even through right click > by FDM. I had reported the same problem with Firefox 12 and FDM build 1255 & 1256 while everything was fine with build 1252 which I believe used add-on ver. 1.5.7.3.

What is your OS?
What happens instead? Does it show some error message?

It seems I've found a bug in Firefox integrating - there is missing a file in latest 3.9.1 builds:
"c:\Program files\Free Manager\Firefox\extension\components\ivmsfdmff.xpt"

I've found also a bug in Opera integrating - tn the registry key
HKEY_CURRENT_\Software\FreeManager.ORG\Free Manager\Settings\Monitor
the value OPDI should contain path
"C:\Program files\Opera\program\plugins\",
not "C:\Program files\Opera\\program\plugins\" with doubled slash.

Well, I might have done that, had FDM told me that my version was out of date: When I saw that Firefox did not like the plugin that I have, I opened the main window of FDM, clicked on Help/Check for update now, which reported that the version I have is up-to-date.

This is not a complaint about FDM, simply an explanation as to why I posted my message: Given that FDM says it is up to date, and that FF does not believe the plugin works, which I found does work, posting my message about this seemed reasonable to me, and continues to seem to have been reasonable given the circumstances.

Your supposition that perhaps I ought to have ed the latest version is not borne out by the fact that FDM told me that it is the latest version.

Finis.

This is not the end yet. I have explained a few times, that checking for updates works only for final versions, not for alpha/beta/RC ones. What is more, for now this option seems to be nonfuctional until suggestions to change it will be implemented. So stay tuned ;-)

And can you give to us link to this file?
So we can it and fix the problem.

No problem. It's a beta, we recognize potential problems.
